TAKE THE STRESS AND UNCERTAINTY OUT OF YOUR CHILD’s SAT TEST EXPERIENCE
Hi, I’m Noah Barron. I’m here to help your son or daughter elevate their SAT Reading and Writing scores. I graduated from Stanford with a Bachelor’s in English in 2004, and from USC with a Master’s in Journalism in 2008. I work as a creative director, graphic designer, freelance writer and tutor.
Test taking is a skill in its own right, and while tests like the SAT are predictive of college performance, they reward a certain type of analytical snap-judgment thinking (especially under time constraints). I am proficient in this skill and I am able to pass along simple tips and reading comprehension methodologies to boost your child’s score and confidence on the verbal/language arts portions of the SAT.
Way back in 1999, I scored 790 out of 800 (99th %tile) on the verbal section of the original SAT I, and 800 out of 800 on the SAT II writing. In 2005, I scored 730 out of 800 on the GRE verbal (98th %tile) and a 6 out of 6 on the writing portion. I’d love to say this is due to pure g, raw cognitive ability, but it isn’t. In my long and varied career I’ve known so many individuals far more creative, intelligent and talented than myself with less stellar standardized test scores. In the years since I was a student, the SAT and GRE have become computerized and far more strategic. Now more than ever, understanding the mindset of test writers, and the kinds of answers they are seeking is essential to maximizing your performance on the SAT.
